SmoothTraffic
SmoothTraffic introduces a Bandwidth Management (or Quality of Service) capability to SmoothWall firewalls, to ensure Internet connections deliver maximum performance. Interactive traffic such as VoIP can be prioritised to achieve consistent quality, low priority traffic such as file downloads can be restricted to limited bandwidth usage, with fair sharing of the remaining bandwidth between users and servers.

SmoothRule
SmoothRule is the Outbound (egress) traffic control module. Rules (for IP/network addresses) provide external port blocking and can restrict access to external SMTP servers. Deep Packet Inspection technology can be used to block port-agile Peer to Peer (P2P) traffic.

SmoothMonitor
SmoothMonitor is the Alerting and Reporting module. It allows network managers and administrators to receive regular reports on the status and performance of the SmoothWall system. These reports can include log file analysis, compiled statistics and system status information. Instant alerts can be generated for important events affecting the SmoothWall system. These alerts can be sent either via email or SMS text message, using a suitable SMTP to SMS gateway.

SmoothTunnel
SmoothTunnel is a fully featured VPN Gateway for both IPSec site-to-site VPNs and Secure Remote Access for mobile users (Road Warriors) using L2TP or IPSec. Features include NAT Traversal (NAT-T) operation, AES and 3DES encryption algorithms, and x509 certificate authentication with an integrated Certificate Authority. VPN connections can also be configured for internal networks, providing both Secure Wireless and secure wired network connections.

SmoothGuardian
SmoothGuardian controls and monitors user web browsing. Its primary web content filtering mechanism is Dynamic Content Analysis, where the actual content of web pages is examined for objectionable content like pornography and violence. URL blocklists supplement the Dynamic Content Analysis, typically to restrict access to time-wasting sites like news and sport. SmoothGuardian can block (by file MIME type) the download of executable programs, music and video. A 12 month phrase and URL blocklist subscription is included.
